CARD-SYSTEM — Universe Card System (final scope, 4 Oct 2026)
Every row in Supabase can become a card. Only a few cards deserve the screen. This file is the brief for any AI tool or coder building Universe pages. If something here conflicts with an older doc, this file wins for cards and for the bot lineup; DESIGN.md wins for mascot drawing and motion.
0. Bot lineup (changed 4 Oct 2026)
The Universe is organised by subject. Each subject bot holds everything for its subject: classes, videos, shortcuts, books, PDFs and practice. Guruji, Sutra and Arena are no longer separate bots.
| Bot (default name) | URL | Owns | Mascot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oracle | /app | Home host: Today's plan, Continue, full centre timetable, Close the day, the coin wallet | Indigo round blob (unchanged) |
| Veda (Quant) | /quant | Quant classes, videos, shortcuts, books, PDFs, practice. Includes DI for CET, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT | Yellow tilted egg (was Guruji) |
| Shabda (Verbal) | /verbal | Verbal classes, videos, books, PDFs, practice, vocab | Purple teardrop (was Sutra) |
| Tarka (Logic & DILR) | /logic | Logic classes, videos, books, PDFs, practice. Includes CAT DILR and CET-only reasoning | Red jelly bean (was Arena's oval) |
| Mocky | /mocks | TCY mocks, topic tests, battles, the shared leaderboard (Arena/War Room lives here) | Light blue clay blob (was Rocky) |
| Purva | /admissions | Colleges, shortlist, deadlines, GD-PI, WAT, SOP | Orange cloud (unchanged) |
- Default names (5 Oct 2026): Veda (Quant), Shabda (Verbal), Tarka (Logic & DILR). The menu shows the subject under each name. Students can still rename every bot at signup.
- Coins live in Oracle. Students earn coins in every bot: class attended, video finished, chapter done, practice set, mock, battle, GD-PI task. Oracle holds the one wallet and shows the balance. Each bot only shows "+20 coins" at the moment of earning. Coin amounts per activity are set in one config, not inside each bot.
- DI rule: Data Interpretation for CET, SNAP, NMAT and CMAT belongs to Quant. CAT DILR belongs to Logic. CET-only reasoning (e.g. Logical Sequence of Words) belongs to Logic. This matches the timetable rule that DILR classes are CAT only.
- Every class, video, chapter, PDF and question carries one subject tag: quant, verbal, logic, mocks or gdpi. This replaces the old bot_owner values (teaching, books, arena).
- Old links keep working: /arena opens Mocky's Battle tab; /teaching and /books redirect to the student's most relevant subject or to /quant.
- Each subject page uses the same tabs: Classes | Videos | Books | Practice.
1. Locked decisions (Ravneet)
- Background: pure white + light grey. Cards are white on a light grey page. Replaces the warm cream.
- Text: dark grey, never pure black; muted grey for secondary lines.
- Button: the existing shared
components/ui/PrimaryButton.tsx(dark satin pill). No orange buttons, no hand-rolled CTAs. - One dark pill on every card. Each card has exactly one main action; anything else sits behind "More" or long-press.
- Leaderboard: one shared leaderboard for everyone (unchanged, now in Mocky) + ghost racing against a past topper's pace.
- Coins: earned everywhere, held and shown by Oracle.
- Streaks: no flames on home. At night Oracle shows "Close the day" (what you finished, what's due tomorrow, coins earned today). The streak number lives quietly in the profile.
2. Core idea
- Cell = one Supabase row (video, class, chapter, college, mistake). Card = how that row looks on screen.
- The same row can appear in different contexts. A Quant video is a Compact card in the Quant library, but Oracle can show it as the Hero on home if it fixes today's weakness. No duplicate data.
- Cards have a lifecycle (section 5). The card must always match the real state of the row.
- A card face shows the one fact worth tapping for. Everything else opens in a sheet.
- Buttons, type, card shapes and gestures are the same across all six bots. Each bot adds only its colour as a soft tint.
3. Four card sizes
| Size | Width (desktop) | Width (phone) | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hero | full | full | The one most important action. Max one per screen. |
| Standard | half | full | Next class, continue mock, college fit. |
| Compact | quarter (shelves: 3–4 across) | half | Shortcuts, formulas due, videos in shelves. |
| Micro | one line | one line | Nudges: "Mocky has a battle ready · 8 min". |
4. Card rules
- One main action, one dark pill.
- Max 3 details on the card face (video: topic, teacher, duration). The rest opens in the sheet.
- Tap opens a sheet over the page; closing returns to the same scroll position. Small extras expand in place.
- Swipe only for revision stacks (formulas, vocab, mistakes): know it / again. Never swipe to dismiss study material.
- Horizontal shelves for browsing (shortcuts, saved). Vertical order for what to do. Not everything is a carousel.
- Filters are chips at the top (exam, topic, teacher, difficulty, time). The student's own exam and centre are pre-selected. Chips survive navigation.
- One save button everywhere, into one "My Library" across all bots.
- Resume wording: "Continue · 5 min left", never "Watch video".
- Mascots appear on home, empty states and big moments, never on the 1,350 video cards.
- Pages end. No infinite feed; a chip takes you deeper.
- Load the first useful cards immediately; shelves load 10 at a time; skeletons match real card sizes.
- Recommended cards carry a short reason: "Because Algebra slipped in your last two mocks."
5. Lifecycles
Class, video, chapter and practice cards live in whichever subject bot they are tagged to. Completing a lifecycle step can award coins (credited to Oracle's wallet).
- Class: Later today → Live · Join → Mark attendance → Recording ready → Teacher's 20-sec voice note → Practice
- Mock: Recommended → Start → Resume → Score → 3 costliest questions → Fix (in Quant, Verbal or Logic) → Retake weak areas
- Video: Recommended → Continue · X min left → Done → Revise later
- Chapter: Read → One video → 5 questions → Pin formulas → Due for revision
- College: Discover → Shortlist → Apply → Deadline → GD-PI → Result
- Mistake: Saved → Sorted (silly / concept gap / time sink) → Due → Fixed
State must be driven by real data (times, scores, progress). A "Join now" on yesterday's class is a bug.
6. Home (Oracle, /app): one hero, three rows, one nudge
- Greeting with the student's name, days to their exam and coin balance, one line.
- Hero: Today's plan. Three tasks with total time, e.g. Percentages 10 questions → Verbal video 14 min → Mocky battle 8 min · 32 min. Pill: "Start my day". The plan finishes.
- Row 1: Continue — last video, chapter or mock with time left.
- Row 2: Today — next class at their centre (any subject), plus any deadline.
- Row 3: From your centre — the full centre timetable across all subjects, plus changes and announcements. Each subject bot shows only its own classes.
- Nudge — one Micro card.
- Night — Close the day, including coins earned today.
- Max 5 cards, then stop.
Personalisation changes the order, not the layout. Ranking: urgency × relevance × weakness × progress. Quant class in 15 min → Quant leads. Mock done yesterday → Mocky's review leads.
Quiet first week: new students get a welcome card, their timetable and one starter mock. No battles, no college gaps, no "you're behind". Weak-topic cards wait for about 3 mocks.
Moments, not banners: seasons show as one sentence inside Today (mock-day eve, exam-day mode = revision only, admissions season = Purva rises). A CET student never inherits CAT urgency.
Purva and Mocky's battles stay off home until earned: Purva once mocks exist, battles once the student has played one.
7. Companion pages
| Bot | Hero | Below | Signature card |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quant /quant | Next or live Quant class at their centre, or "Fix Percentages" if a weakness is due | Continue, shortcut row, topic shelves (Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, DI), chapters, formulas due | One topic as a path: class → video → chapter → 10 questions → formulas. Videos sit behind chips, never as the landing. |
| Verbal /verbal | Next Verbal class, or today's RC / vocab revision | Continue, topic shelves (RC, para-jumbles, grammar, vocab), chapters, words due | Vocab and grammar-rule swipe stack. PDFs live inside chapter cards, never as bare file cards. |
| Logic /logic | Next Logic class, or a DILR set to try | Continue, topic shelves (arrangements, puzzles, DILR sets, CET reasoning), chapters | DILR set card: pick, solve, see the topper's approach. CAT-only and CET-only items tagged by exam. |
| Mocky /mocks | Latest or next mock: target, recent best, Start/Resume | Tabs: Mock | Battle | Leaderboard. Upcoming mocks, today's battle (10 Q · 8 min), rank + movement ("#31, up 7"), older mocks as quiet list | Morning-after review: 3 costliest questions, each linked to the fix in the right subject bot. Bad mock → 3-card recovery plan. Ghost race vs a past topper. |
| Purva /admissions | Dream-college gap: target, your level, gap, "Build my plan" | Shortlist, closing soon, within reach, stretch, GD-PI | College fit as Strong / Competitive / Stretch, never a % chance. One-minute GD/WAT prompt in interview season. |
8. Privacy (non-negotiable)
- No user counts, view counts, attempt counts, "trending" or "N students".
- Ranks show position and movement, never "of N".
- Other students appear only by username, never real names.
- Centre presence without numbers: "Your Thane batch is in class now."
- Percentile, rank and red weakness charts live inside Mocky's sheet, not on home.
9. SEO
- Public pages (videos, chapters, colleges, shortcuts, subject pages like /quant, centre pages like /thane) are server-rendered with fixed URLs, titles and text. They look like cards; Google can read them.
- Filter chips on public pages are real links (e.g. "para-jumbles shortcuts").
- The personal layer (saved, due, your centre, coins) loads on top after login and is noindex.
10. Build order
- New lineup + login + card kit — rename bots and pages (Quant, Verbal, Logic, Mocky, Purva); OTP + Google from LOGIN-PLAN.md; switch theme to white + light grey; four card sizes, sheet, chips, save, on top of the existing PrimaryButton; coin wallet on Oracle (one table, one config of coin amounts).
- Subject tags + class card — add a subject tag to every timetable class (using the DI rule); class lifecycle in each subject bot, fed by the CK Backoffice timetable; full centre timetable on Oracle's home.
- Mocky's Battle tab — War Room inside Mocky with one login; existing War Room coins move into Oracle's wallet; rank with movement, then ghost racing; /arena opens the Battle tab.
- Subject videos — tag DynTube videos by subject (about 45 untagged ones first), then show them in Quant, Verbal and Logic with Continue, shortcuts row, topic shelves.
- Mocky's mocks — TCY scores in, morning-after review linking to the right subject, mistake notebook, recovery plan.
- Subject books — chapter path cards, PDFs and revision swipe stacks inside each subject bot.
- Purva — dream-college gap, college fit cards, deadlines, GD/WAT prompt.
- Oracle's daily plan — Today's plan, ranking, Close the day, one daily WhatsApp nudge (last: needs every bot's data).
11. Parked
- Ravneet's call later: opt-in weekly parent report; WhatsApp share images for wins; Hinglish toggle; mascot moods within the eyes-only, no-mouth rule; what coins can be spent on.
- Bigger builds: offline revision stack; "I have 5 minutes" mode; audio summaries; voice GD-PI practice; doubt cards from live class.
- Not doing: six-bot bottom bar (keep pill nav + bot tray); phone widgets; study groups and alumni AMAs (would reveal size); weather cards; badge piles and leagues.
